How to Submit a Successful DSF Grant Application

The information you submit in your grant application is what we'll use to make a decision about funding your proposal, so you should take the time to understand what we're looking for and answer the form questions thoughtfully.

Here are a few ways you can improve the chances of your DSF application being successful.

Understand the Requirements

  • Read the grant requirements and ensure you meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Ensure you or a member of your team is registered as a University Network member.
  • Read up on how to complete DSF Grants to prepare for the questions.

Be Specific

  • When answering questions, ensure that you list and explain the specific capabilities you have to meet the aims of the grant proposal.
  • Be meticulous and give us as much relevant information as you can in your application.
  • Give a concrete plan of how you will achieve your objectives.

Highlight Your Strengths

  • Be sure to highlight why your project is important and why it stands out.
  • Showcase how the proposed project connects with, complements, and/or enables the work of others.
  • Be clear about what problem you’re solving and why it’s important.

Be Concise

  • Be direct in your answers to each question.
  • Be concise with the supporting information about your project.
  • It’s critical to include a thorough, realistic and accurate costing - the value for money of the proposal is a key consideration.

Expected Outcomes and Impact

  • Clearly Identify potential outputs and outcomes and how they can be used tangibly.
  • Outline how the results of your work can be innovative and sustainable.
  • Give examples of how your project can be of public benefit.
