On Thursday, 14th of November the DLT Seminar Series welcomed Zhipeng Wang, who holds a PhD in Computer Science from Imperial Colledge London, for an engaging seminar on “When Blockchain Meets AI: How Can Blockchain Make AI More Decentralized?”
The session at University College London explored how blockchain could address key challenges in AI, such as centralisation, data privacy, and single points of failure. Zhipeng highlighted the limitations of current centralised AI models, explaining:
“Only large, centralised companies can provide the service of large language models… Blockchain offers a path to build a more decentralised, community-defined AI system.”
By leveraging blockchain’s decentralised structure, Zhipeng proposed that AI could become more transparent, resilient, and fair, benefiting a broader community of users. His insights sparked discussions among the participants on the future of a decentralised AI that empowers individuals rather than large corporations that seek to monetise their products at every turn.
Join us for the next event in the DLT Seminar Series on Thursday 21st November at UCL.
